Why Love is Better

Three years back there was a real movement about
being mean in relationships because people of low
self esteem expected it, and it was especially aimed
at women.  At the time I was teaching an
undergrad psych class, that's a scary thought isn't it;
and actually brought some of these CD's into class
to let them listen to this mess.Well, it was just that,
and I really felt it was so demeaning, only
here is the problem; the techniques do work.
That's a problem because they are techniques,
not who you are, but something that you do.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_o4RLQ3DIqw

Sort of like when people write about stuff just
because they need to be writing another article
so they will get paid?  Kind of like when the
Cheesey nature of modern publishing forces
those who actually do have talent to become
"more productive," meaning, "put out more
articles or else."
Then people wonder where the genius writers
of the past went, here's an answer- they didn't go anywhere.
Capitalist pig editor's (CPE's) tethered them to a
machine for bucks! They just have to eat like
everyone else- but while those CPE's received
raise on top of raise on top of raise, the writers
who put them there, didn't. They have to write for a living, and
CPE's demand; sometimes, way too much of it for them to survive.

So what do you want reader, quality, or quantity, because, here
is an odd fact, when it comes to writing and the pace of the
human performing it, you can't get both; and today, we
stack on top of that video.  We expect our leaders and those
who contribute to our niche's to produce not only top notch
writing but also, top notch multi-media, and when they don't,
we blithely pass them off.  Want to know what happens when
really good writers get treated like that?  So then who do you
end up reading- you end up reading who corporate controlled
editorship wants you to read, because you brought that on,
because you did not choose your favorite local writers and
see to it that they got paid commensurate with their art.

Is there an answer for us as readers, certainly in the case
of my favorites, usually I try to purchase at least one if
not two of their articles or books per month; why(?), if
only so that, if everyone else did that, they'd have a
reasonably good month? Folks this isn't easy to say, and
it's not about me, this about the writers that are good;
that share with me, with us, those talents.
And how, because times are tough
right now, they are, many times, a low priority- and
we don't think of art, usually; as much as we think of
Milk? Groceries take a priority over art, and that's
almost natural, isn't it?

Love isn't natural, love is better; natural is to drink the
Milk, and the priority for survival gets met, love says,
"hey, we can drink one less glass a day, put that
two dollars back, and buy one of Ned's articles."
That isn't natural, but it is, love.  Love is better, and
this article has suggested by some illustrations from
life, why that is so, why love is better.  Now the
real question becomes, do you agree and will you
act upon that?  Or do you disagree and will you
act upon that?  Take a stand, and when you do,
you will find why love is better.

Social Media Is You And You Are Responding

CNN.COM  click to go to link for image above
There used to be a saying that the United States was the most giving nation on the planet.  What has happened to that saying, does it still hold true, or, are we losing ground?  Looking at this picture, the answer is obvious, isn't it?  If we go by what we hear on some of the news channels in the U.S. but broadcasting international news. we'd have to conclude differently than this chart.

It then becomes a different discussion because all of a sudden the United States that isn't kind and caring is suddenly seen in an entirely new light.
When looking at this graph it is hard not to see the United States as out- giving the closest giving nation by three or more to one, when one considers that, it ought to evoke two distinct emotions.  1)  A feeling of "hooray," for the U.S.?  2)  A feeling of wanting to get in on the giving ones self, if one is able, if one sees it as valuable?  Are those two feelings present in you when you see that chart?  If they aren't it doesn't mean you aren't a good person, it does mean that it is quite possible that the U.S. socio-cultural milieu is changing more rapidly than was anticipated.

Social Media gets into the mix because the large level donations, the enormous amounts of money, flow into the donations centers, it isn't a question that until now, folks paid particular attention to.  But with the recent status of economies world wide, the difficulties with Greece, the changes taking place in a U.S. economy mired in bad political bail-outs and faulty home markets; it's becoming more so. One of the primary means that exist to measure such things are surveys.  The main question of this writing is whether those conditions have impacted upon you, and whether that has affected your giving?  Does the fact that such isn't measured seem odd to you?  We keep records, for example, when someone mails in a check, tax records are kept of such, but in this instance, the total contributing power of the web is seemingly being ignored?  You may know a lot more about this, or would be willing to look into it and contribute some knowledge to this search?

Finally we close with this video which we hope brings the discussion to some other level:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6LB30iPqIM

Point being in wrap up, you are giving, but are you as a person who is involved in social media, getting recognized for that contribution as you should? Let us know what you think?

Your Future May Be ...

 Bright

Ray Kurzweil, author and futurist, a statistician of scientific models and
things that change our world; Ray was one of the first genius authors to
note the power of organized programming in Wired magazine so many
years ago.  He founded successful companies and designed immense
and powerful software applications (Read his Bio here)- he believes
that the future is going to be largely controlled by technology - and in
an interview he put it this way:

Not So Bright -
Some futurists tend to run on the bleak side believing
that the motives which spur on research and improvement also tend
to support our more base motives.  The result they believe in says
that survival of the fittest is going to put mankind into an untenable
position from which we may never escape.

Apocalyptic - there is a type of person who believes that the future
is set down in stone, that there is going to be an enormous and
impossible to prevent Apocalyptic end.  Some choose to believe
a Myan system which predicts world end in 2012- and the belief
naturally has attracted a good deal more attention since the movie
by that same name came out.  There are, however some other
beliefs which also predict world end by this means. There may
be some sarcasm in this clip:

Unknowable - there is a branch of logic which deals with constructs
and results, measures and derivations, deductions based upon the
most reasonable of courses.  The people who practice this art of
knowledge are sometimes said to be pessimistic or opptimistic-
or, as Dr. Taylor's father used to say when asked which he was:
"I'm aptimistic," he'd twinkle, "apt to feel this way one day and
apt to feel another way some other day."

Uncertain Rather Than Unknowable
- the category which is hardest
to iron out doesn't believe in not knowing, they simply cannot be
definite about what they believe is being studied.  In the mix of
all that is being known, they believe we cannot compile and
make sense of it, yet; so that to know the future from the present,
at present, is too enormous to be worthwhile, yet such studies
are being considered and undertaken. Here is one example of a
very complex niche which continues to expand- children of war:

Conclusion: This brief video has sought only to point out
that the future which is coming has many different ways of
being seen, and to perhaps, start you to considering what
you believe the future will be like.  This report is opinion
neutral and provides no weight to any particular version
of any of the material contained herein, all is presented in
as neutral a fashion as possible as potential food for thought only.

BUZZ - Social Media In A Related Way

    GET YOUR BUZZ ON!

Splitting the atom releases huge energy
Some of the greatest guru's in this
industry may not see themselves
that way- simply because they may
not have people share with them
normally as conversation, or a thank
you note, how intensely they have
impacted  upon their lives.  Think
about the guru's you know who "turn you on"
to an idea- it doesn't have to be a
big idea to have incredible ramifications,
incredible power.  In fact, it is the smallest
of things natural, an atom, which has the
greatest of power within it, when it is
released; so it is with an idea.

The size of an idea, is not what matters,
that you can conceive of an idea, that; matters.
Think about how ideas even come to your mind in the
first place?  Where do they come from, really,
where do they come from?

The less complicated person will say, "well I just imagined
it and that was that," and they are right, but they aren't seeing
the setting, pull the camera of your life back a bit, to see the
images in a slightly more in depth way:  you got the
idea as you were driving down the street- and you heard a car
with the radio playing an old, old; Cream song, "Sunshine of
Your Love," an old Eric Clapton tune- wow; and your mind
heard it, and then the light turned red, and as you sat there at
that intersection, the sunlight coming through the window
was very hot, and bright, and you turned your head to avoid it,
and that's when you saw the little kid standing there, she had
on a blue dress, she looked really cute, really pretty, and that was
when you thought about that idea.

NOW- all those events had to take place in
precisely that order, or that thought, doesn't
happen, that idea, doesn't take place.  It is just that incredibly
powerful; in fact, if we get really honest about it, the most
powerful force in existence may well be, your mind.

"OK, I GET IT" ..."OH,DO YOU?"

So when a Dr. Bret Simmons says that he will be teaching
about how to do social media, on YouTube, you better believe
I am all over that.

When Chris Voss says anything, I am listening
with every fiber of my being.  When Mari Smith shines that
incredible smile, and laughs with that great accented
laugh she has, and starts teaching about Facebook, you
better believe I am all over every word, why; because
they are ideas, and ideas are powerful, powerful, beyond
measure; for they have within them, the results.

WELL IF ITS THAT SIMPLE?

Oh I know folks are all turned off about Jesus lately- but
His teaching on ideas, as water that is refreshing
in the heat and the desert and the way that an idea
about giving is so; powerful; is beyond what anyone thought
at the time, and even today, if one will really take the
time to listen to Him; they are incredibly powerful
ideas, for anyone, who will take the time to pay attention
to them.

LETS THINK TOGETHER?

When Sean Donahoe sends me a video or
suggests I watch one, or study a certain type of process,
I get to it, right away, why; because he knows from
experience what will work.

This is a process that does take time, but do
you know any successful businesses
that don't take time?

What has happened with all the "get rich quick," hype
that is out there, is that people have gotten the idea that
wealth can be obtained without work, and that idea
is just not true.  Now it is true that it's almost 2 A.M.,
and I feel like it's mid-noon; why(?); because I just love
what I'm doing here, so it's more like joy than work.
In that sense, yes, it is "get rich quick," because even
if it takes me a year or longer to have any real significant
income from what I write and vlog- it won't seem
like it, because it is so much fun to do.  If this idea
has hit home with you at all, won't you take a moment
to let us know?

WE GIVE BECAUSE WE CAN

We honestly do have an incredible free
software package for you, and what's even better about
this free software is, as you use it, more, you get more-
now, that's unbelievable, but true- and the lady who
does the video explanation about how to set the
software into use on your system makes all that
absolutely clear- this is a gift we want to share with
you, just as all these ideas have come to you, free-
because we believe in giving you everything that we
possibly can of value- we give it to you free.  In
that is an idea that has tremendous power- and so
let me suggesto to you that you take in Dr. Bret
Simmons video on this, my promise to you is this,
he will bless your business with incredible ideas, and
then when you are done with Bret, let us know what
you thought about it?  We might have some ideas
that would stir you onto even greater things?

GOODNESS KNOWS NO TIME

Let me close this session by sharing a true story
with you about value- a friend of mine taught Sunday
school, came to me and said, "hey could you teach for
me next Sunday," I was a bit reluctant because that is
a tremendous responsibility, even more so than
teaching in school I think, because it is the Bible and
God which we would be teaching and sharing about.

As the Sunday school session came to an end, I realized
in my inner person that I loved teaching that session.  So
I went to the director of the Sunday school and volunteered
for a class if one came open, to teach.  "Funny you should
be here about that, you know, the person who asked you
to sub has cancer- they don't want anyone to know it-
they are keeping it kind of quiet for right now, but it
is wearing them out, and they asked me if I could find
someone to take their place?"  I must've looked stunned
because he paused before going on. "Of course my answer was
that doing such would be very difficult, because they
are so very good."  It was one of those times where you
think you understand - but really, you don't.

From that class a young man came up to me and
said, "hey man, I'm thinking about going into the
radio business, but I'm a little shy about talking to
folks about it, I think they might think I'm crazy, cause
nobody has done anything like that in our family."
My response was that it was a great idea, he should
go with his feelings, and follow up on getting with
the local station, and in fact we agreed to do just that.
He came up to me the next week and said he had made
an appointement to visit the local station and that
he was ready to go, I mentioned if he needed a ride or
any assistance it would be an honor to help him; young
people are the bricks upon which our society's future
is built, etc.  He said no problem he had it covered but
that he appreciated the fact that I'd taken him seriously
and had actually helped him get moving on it.  That was
that, we finished out the year, and sure enough, he did
go into radio.  Now, this is one of those times when
you believe you get it, right?  You are on the edge of
getting it, but the story doesn't stop there, as ideas
are powerful in ways we can never truly know in advance.

Fast forward ten years, my student has gone on in his
career, he has become a big time "radio personality,"
and my teenage daughter is with us as we are driving
back home one evening when we hear of a radio
remote going on at a bowling alley on the way home-
we share the story of my bud with her, but she
doesn't believe it could have happened to her old man.
We stop, she gets the tee shirt, signed by this friend,
and let me tell you, now you get it, don't you?  In the
eyes of my daughter, my stock went up a few notches.
An idea is a very powerful thing- and it all happens,
as a result of a very powerful thing, your mind.
You see, you are reading this right now, because
of, your mind, and it had to be written before that
could happen, it's sort of like when you were sitting
at that red light...

Make Money - Not Without This

It was Friday evening, she was in a hurry, she stopped bye
the dry cleaners and was told that they meant to get hers done
http://www.thewideawakecafe.com/?m=200809
but ran into some problems with getting the right fabric cleaner
and so they wouldn't be able to get them done until the next
day.  She asked them why they hadn't just called her cell phone
and left a number, or texted her about it, because she had gone
about fifteen minutes out of her way to stop bye and pick up
her dry cleaning which wasn't done?  She wasn't happy, but
can you see both sides of this - as they said, "mam we don't
normally do that with customers,"  "don't normally do what
with customers," she asked, now getting mildly agitated-
"we don't normally call them- because most folks don't
mind if we need to take a little more time to get it done right?"

WHAT IS REALLY HAPPENING HERE?

Now until this moment- she was only mildly
agitated, but now they had said some things that she didn't
like- the first of which was that most folks don't mind the
fact the dry cleaners doesn't notify them if the job won't
be done on time.  Here is what happened as a result of this:
they agreed, her next set of clothes would be on them- that's
fair isn't it?  But the most important thing that happened is
that they agreed it might be a nice service to let folks know
when something happened and their dry cleaning wouldn't
be done on time (how many of yours do that?).

Three things set this scenario apart from being "just another
whiney customer," first, the ladies request wasn't too far
outside the bounds of good service expectations, was it?
Second she was a fairly powerful business lady who had
need of that dress which was really a ball gown for that
evening because she had a social event to attend, which
for many people isn't optional and isn't social.  Third,
and this is the most important of all; her trust with that
dry cleaners was broken as a result of this, when it
needn't have been?  Trust and integrity are hand in hand
items, you don't have one without the other, and you
wont' have one, without the other.

SO LETS DISCUSS THIS?

Before we condemn others, we might want to also
consider whether we really get what it is like in their
shoes?  Even when the issues are fairly dynamic, if
we consider - perhaps only briefly what it might be
like from their point of view, one senses that it would
be virtually impossible not to change your point of view?

My experience with this goes all the way from taking care
of baby- looked so simple on those commercials- only
when it came time to get it done, not so simple; to; complex
matters of properly communicating in business ( something
I'm still working on) while contributing to the success of
the individuals that you are dialoguing with.  All fun matters
that as others are seen doing them appear to be easy,
but one thing experience has taught me is, they are not
easy, and if I will walk for just a little while in the other
persons shoes, I'll get a better idea of what it is that
they accomplish, and my criticism will change.  It is
not that the criticism will cease, that's never good, because
feedback is so important; guidance is so important,
but when a person renders it without understanding the
other persons point of view, it's rarely as good as it
could be.

Image used at:  http://dinarpackage.com/feedback.html
CONCLUSION (You mean he actually wrote one?)

In our story of the lady and the dry cleaning,
it might have helped her to know that cell phones were
useless inside the business due to intereference from
the surrounding machines- so in order for someone
to call her, they would have to go outside, which
actually did mean, stopping the conveyor and for
that brief period of time, ceasing their operations?
No simple task.  Was there a possible solution to this
one which makes sense?

Your Life Hangs In The Balance

You might not agree that life is short?
Some people don't, they believe that
they will live forever, so to say, and
they don't consider that today might
be the last day of their life.  Most of
us don't live with a sense of the song
title, "Live Like You Were Dying,"
because we can't take the serious
nature of such a thought, or because
we just don't like the "down", sort
of melancholy type of mindset which
that type of thinking brings on. Perhaps you can add to the ideas here?

The article in this mornings BBC says
a lawyer advised their client to cut off
life support and the courts have upheld
the decision as legal, "Germany's Justice Minister,
Sabine Leutheusser-Schnarrenberger,
said the Karlsruhe federal court
ruling brought clarity to cases
involving terminally ill patients."

Do you think, first, that the world is
getting older?  In other words people
are living longer?  Second, do you
think that we have allowed for this,
in other words we've thought ahead
to what it means for all sorts of support
systems, that people will live longer?

You will remember a famous case in
America where a doctor was accused
of helping patients to end their lives
early?  Do you think it's possible that
this case will impact upon that one?
